Ocean101 was released in October 2020 with the aim to lower the barrier to fully grasp Ocean Protocol tech stack and value proposition. This week we released the second module of Ocean Academy focused on Data and DeFi as part of Project Shrimp, a grant received by the OceanDAO in December 2020.

Data is an asset class that can enhance and widen the composability and interoperability of the entire DeFi ecosystem. What a journey this is!

But What is the Shrimp Release ?

The Shrimp release not only includes a module explaining the basics of data DeFi, but also it improves our internal communication and workflow. The academy is expanding while taking a leading role within the Ocean Community.

The working group almost quadrupled in a couple months and the response of the community was overwhelmingly positive.

Project Shrimp was completed on February 8, 2021. It entailed:

  1. The marketing campaign with ads on Twitter and Google debuted on January 19 has been a success so far, delivering over 163K impressions half-way through the campaign, leading to a +496% increase in traffic to oceanacademy.io landing page.
  2. Landing page front-end (with multi-tracks integration) is revamped
  3. Menus and various UI improvements have been committed
  4. 21 issues have been raised in Github and 14 of them have been closed
  5. 32 merge requests have been created and have been 31 closed
  6. A new webpage was built to seamlessly link to the Ocean Ambassador recruitment program

Most importantly There is now an option given to graduates of Ocean 101 to issue their certificate on the Ethereum blockchain as a non-fungible token (NFT)
